ASM Academy – UAE is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We recognise our responsibility to protect children from harm and to provide safe, supportive, and positive environments for all participants.
Safeguarding is a core priority across all our services, including sports delivery, mentoring, classroom support, and enrichment programmes.
1. Our Commitment
ASM Academy is committed to ensuring that:
Children are protected from abuse, neglect, and harm
The wellbeing, safety, and dignity of every child is respected
All staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities
Clear procedures are followed if concerns arise
We take safeguarding seriously and act promptly on any concerns raised.
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to:
All ASM Academy staff, coaches, mentors, and support staff
Contractors and volunteers
All children and young people participating in ASM Academy programmes
All environments where ASM Academy operates, including schools, sports facilities, and activity venues
3. Safeguarding Lead
ASM Academy appoints a designated safeguarding lead (DSL) responsible for overseeing safeguarding procedures, training, and incident management.
Safeguarding concerns should be reported immediately to the safeguarding lead or a senior member of staff.
4. Safe Recruitment & Vetting
ASM Academy operates safe recruitment practices, including:
Identity verification
Employment history checks
Appropriate background checks and clearances in line with UAE requirements
Reference checks
No staff member is permitted to work unsupervised with children without appropriate checks being completed.
5. Training & Awareness
All ASM Academy staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role, including:
Recognising signs of abuse or neglect
Understanding safeguarding responsibilities
Knowing how to report concerns
Maintaining professional boundaries
Training is refreshed regularly to ensure continued awareness.
6. Professional Conduct & Boundaries
All staff are expected to:
Act as positive role models at all times
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
Use appropriate language and behaviour
Avoid situations where they are alone with a child unless agreed and supervised
Physical contact is only permitted where appropriate, necessary, and in line with the nature of the activity.
7. Responding to Safeguarding Concerns
If a safeguarding concern is identified:
The concern is recorded accurately and promptly
The safeguarding lead is informed immediately
Appropriate action is taken in line with internal procedures
External authorities are contacted where required
All concerns are handled confidentially and sensitively.
8. Reporting a Concern
Safeguarding concerns may be raised by:
Staff
Schools
Parents
Students
Concerns can be reported verbally or in writing and will be taken seriously.
No individual will be penalised for raising a genuine safeguarding concern.
9. Child Wellbeing & Inclusion
ASM Academy promotes:

Age-appropriate delivery
Programmes are designed to support confidence, engagement, and resilience in a safe and structured way.
10. Photography & Media
Photographs or videos of children are only taken:
With appropriate consent
For agreed purposes such as promotion or quality assurance
Parents or schools may withdraw consent at any time.
11. Partnership With Schools & Parents
Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. We work closely with:
School leadership teams
Designated safeguarding leads
Parents and guardians
to ensure consistent and effective safeguarding practices.
12. Review of This Policy
This Safeguarding Policy is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains effective and aligned with current best practice.
